Cover Letter for Employment

Dear Mr. Simon:

I would like to apply for the position of Computer Programmer, advertised in the newspaper on April 3, 2007. (Item 1) I will graduate from college in May with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, (Item 2) and my coursework and college employment have prepared me well for the position you seek to fill. (Item 3)

Your advertisement asks for someone with knowledge of the JAVA and C++ programming languages. I took several courses in these languages and used them to help program an easy-to-use file editor for my college “GO” club. (Item 4) You are also seeking someone with experience in troubleshooting many computer problems. As a sophomore and junior, I worked for the computer help station, assisting people with a variety of hardware and software issues that arose on their PCs. My supervisor was so pleased with my abilities that, at the start of my senior year, he made me Head of the Help Desk, giving me greater responsibility and management experience. (Item 5) I loved the challenge of this work and am sure I will enjoy the challenge of working for your company. Thank you for your consideration. (Item 6)

Sincerely Yours,

John Smith
